Meet our BigV coaching line up for 2020

State Championship Women – Samantha Thornton

Continuing on from the 2019 season, Bulleen Boomers Hall of Fame and Life Member, Samantha Thornton will be coaching our State Championship Women’s team in 2020.  Sam is a former Australian player, in 1989 she was the Australian International Player of the Year. She has extensive coaching experience – NITP Coach, State Coach and SEABL Assistant Coach.  Sam will continue to develop our senior women through what will be, no doubt, a very exciting season!

Youth League One Women – Anthony Arcangel

It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Anthony Arcangel.  Anthony was assistant coach with Diamond Valley’s YCW this season and prior to that head coach for Coburg’s YL1W who were runner’s up in 2017.  Anthony is a great believer in serving community, culture and inclusion and we know he will do great things for our terrific squad.

Division One Men – Rodrigo Torres

We are delighted to have Rodrigo Torres stay on from a successful 2019 season which saw our senior men make finals.  Rodrigo came to us from the Melbourne Tigers bringing his extensive, almost decade long coaching experience, from both locally and overseas, to the Boomers.  He has held positions including NITP Development Coach and Australian Junior Maccabi coach.  It’s sensational to have Rodrigo back in 2020.

Victorian Youth Championship Men – Josiah Smith

A great pleasure to announce the appointment of Josiah Smith.  Josiah comes to us from Sunbury where he assisted Kennedy Kereama as AC of their SCW squad who attained back to back titles in 2017/2018.  Josiah attended observed at the 2018 NBA Toronto Raptors pre season along with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues OUA East pre season camp.  Josiah is a strong believer in culture and commitment on and off the court and will be a sensational addition to our lineup.
