Meet our BigV coaching line up for 2022

Championship Women – Michael Brookens

The Bulleen Boomers are excited to announce that Michael Brookens is our Championship Women Head Coach for the upcoming season.  Michael comes to us with over 31 years of experience coaching women’s basketball and we believe he will be a valuable asset to the Club.  He was previously the Director of Coaching at Dandenong and he’s just come off a championship season coaching the Victorian Youth Championship Women.  We welcome Michael back to the Boomers family and look forward to see what he brings to the program in 2022 and beyond after guiding our 2021 squad to top of the ladder before that season was cancelled.  Michael also heads up our Junior Championship 18 Girls program and is the Club’s Director of Coaching, Talent Development.

Youth League One Women – Jack Maloney

We’re pretty excited to promote one of our existing Junior Championship coaches this season into the BigV program.  Jack will continue his role in the Junior girls program and is excited about the opportunity to take the next step.  He’s already won the confidence of the playing group and staff with his unique style, working alongside ‘veteran’ assistant coach Adrienne Callinan and we can’t wait to see what he produces with the ladies this season.

Division One Men – Taylor Culpepper

The Bulleen Boomers are excited to announce that Taylor Culpepper is our Division One Men Head Coach for the upcoming season.  Taylor comes to us with over 6 years of experience coaching at the elite level having had a season as Assistant Coach for our BigV D1M in 2019/2020, Assistant Coach in our Junior Championship program and previously as an Assistant Coach with the Melbourne Tigers U16s.  We believe he will continue to be a valuable asset to the Club. We welcome Taylor in his continued role in the Boomers family and look forward to see what he brings to the program in 2022 and beyond.

Victorian Youth Championship Men – Rodrigo Torres

We are delighted to have Rodrigo Torres stay on from a successful 2021 season which saw our Youth Champ Men finish 2nd in their pool before the season was cancelled.  Rodrigo can also be remembered as our Division One Men’s coach and hey made finals in 2019.  Rodrigo initially came to us from the Melbourne Tigers bringing his extensive, almost decade long coaching experience, from both locally and overseas, to the Boomers.  He has held positions including NITP Development Coach and Australian Junior Maccabi coach.  It’s sensational to have Rodrigo back in his role for 2022 and beyond.
