Future Boomers Rep Development Squad (FBRD)

FUTURE BOOMERS REP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, 2024

TARGET: The Future Boomers Rep Development Squad is led by our Junior Domestic Development Officer, Kelvin Bowers and junior support coaches, aimed at boys and girls born in 2014/2015 who currently play domestic or primary school basketball at our club. KB and our Junior Rep coaches are always on the lookout for future Boomers representative players and watch games each week on Saturday. Players will be sent personal invitations to join the program.

PURPOSE: Attract and select teams of boys and girls whom we can develop and open the pathway as prime candidates for U/12 VJBL selection next season.

PROGRAM DESIGN: The program involves players attending training sessions throughout the term, leading into tournament participation each term.

Tournaments planned: Eltham Dandenong Junior Basketball Tournament (late January 2024), South Eastern Junior Basketball Tournament (March Labour Day weekend, 2024), Whittlesea Junior Classic tournament (mid April 2024),

Bulleen Boomers’ King’s Birthday Tournament (King’s Birthday Long Weekend in June, 2024) & Southern Peninsula Tournament (Winter School Holidays, 2024).

The club is investing in the future of our pathway to help players improve and aspire to be Boomer Junior Representative players next season and beyond. We will provide an inclusive and advanced coaching tuition across the program and tournaments.

KEY DATES:

Term 4, 2023

Sunday morning training sessions starting 22^nd October through to 10^th December (no session on Sunday 5^th November). We will have a breakup party on the final session on 10^th December.

Cost for term 4: $155 (includes training session & EDJBT registration, listed in term 1, 2024 schedule)

Term 1, 2024

Tournament Training Sunday 21^st January at Our Lady of the Pines Primary School (OLOP), Carbine St, Donvale

Eltham Dandenong Junior Basketball Tournament  (EDJBT) Thursday 25^th Jan through to Sunday 28^th January

Regular training resumes Sunday 11^th February through to Sunday 3^rd March

South Eastern Junior Basketball Tournament 9^th – 11^th March

Tournament Training Thursday 11^th April at East Doncaster Secondary College at 5pm-6pm

Whittlesea Junior Classic tournament, 13^th & 14^th April

Cost for term 1: $187.50

Term 2, 2024

Training resumes Sunday 12^th May through to Sunday 2^nd June.

Under 10s will be participating in the Bulleen Boomers’ King’s Birthday tournament, 8^th & 9^th June.

Under 12s will be participating in the Nunawading King’s Birthday tournament 8^th 9^th and 10th June.

Tournament Training Wednesday 3^rd July at East Doncaster Secondary College at 5pm-6pm

Southern Peninsula Junior Domestic tournament, 5^th & 6^th July

Cost for term 2: $167 (includes tournament registration)

Term 3, 2024

Training resumes Sunday August 11^th through to Sunday 15^th September

Conclusion of program on Sunday 15^th September

Cost for term 3: $60

Reversible training top ($45) and training shorts ($35) optional.

Boys 2015 born: 8am-9am

Boys 2014 born: 9am-10am

Girls: 10am-11am
